Description: Company Description: Fresh Food Manufacturer National Distribution Brand Recognized Job Objective: Responsible for the proper operation, maintenance, and repair of all ammonia refrigeration systems and other operating equipment as required DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Daily start up of system, observe operation, read and record gauges and instruments • Adjust mechanisms such as valves, controls and pumps to control the level of fluid, pressure and temperature in system • Lays out reference points for installation of structural and functional components • Lifts or hoists and aligns components into position • Screws, bolts, rivets, welds, and brazes parts to assemble structural and functional components such as motors, controls, switches, gauges, wiring harnesses, valves, pumps, compressors, condensers, cores, and pipes • Cuts, threads, and connects pipe to functional components and water or power system of premises • Pumps specified gas or fluid into system • Starts system, observes operation, read gauges and instruments, and adjusts mechanisms such as valves, controls, and pumps to control level of fluid, pressure, and temperature in system • Dismantles malfunctioning systems and tests components • Replaces or adjusts defective or worn parts to repair systems • Will issue & track work orders • You will be responsible to maintain and operate the Ammonia refrigeration and Waste water system in accordance with all established safety procedures and within state and federal codes limits • Coordinate and oversee contractors performing ammonia refrigeration work and facility support systems work to include air, water, gas, electrical, chemical, steam, fire sprinkler and waste water • Services and repairs forklifts, including oil changes, hydraulic brakes, electrical systems, mast and carriage bearings and bushings, etc. • Services and repairs various hydraulic systems such as hoses, pumps, control valves, motors, etc
 
Special
Requirements:
• High school diploma (or equivalent) • Minimum of 1-3 years if Industrial Maintenance and at least 1-year experience as Refrigeration Technician, RETA certification a plus • Must have knowledge of spiral freezers and engine room • Able to read and understand refrigeration and electrical blueprints • Must be familiar with PSM programs & maintain refrigeration, boiler, pneumatic & climate control systems • Must be able to read electrical blueprints • Ability to tig, mig and arc weld • Must be flexible to work any shift and weekends • Minimum of 1-3 yrs experience in the refrigeration (Food Industry Preferred) • Must have a clear understanding of refrigeration principles and facility refrigeration system with the ability to troubleshoot pumps, valves, and piping • The individual in this position must establish and maintain open communications and productive work relationships with maintenance team leaders, operators, attendants, laborers, mechanics, maintenance supervisors, the shift manager, and all area team leaders • The area of work includes both inside the facility and outside, depending on work requirements • Weekend and overtime work in this position is common and may be required to meet operational goals • This position requires the ability to work in extreme environments of hot and cold • The individual in this position will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of the Refrigeration system and have the ability to make decisions based on sound judgment when a situation dictates • It is imperative the Refrigeration Mechanics conduct themselves in a manner that ensures alertness and constant awareness of the safe operation of equipment and its surroundings. • Must be able to drive a standard or manual transmission vehicle and have a valid California State Driver's License. • Must be able to read and interpret written instructions, manufacturers' manuals, material safety data sheets and engineering drawings • Must be able to use written logbooks, plant computer system, and maintenance work order and supply system • Must be able to work under extreme conditions such as hot, wet and cold environments; inside and outside the Plant • Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, catwalks, and maneuver in close quarters.
