Description:
A growing Monterey County Winery is looking to hire an experienced Lab Supervisor for their winery operations. This position supports winemaking and production by coordinating and validating lab analyses, promoting research and development, and maintaining inventory of lab supplies. The Lab Supervisor will supervise various lab positions and assure that the laboratory operates efficiently with the use of its resources. The successful candidate will have 3-5 years working in a lab environment, preferably a winery lab, have thorough knowledge of chemical techniques, be computer literate, multifaceted, have excellent communication skills, and work well under pressure in this fast-paced environment while contributing to the teams winemaking evolution. Duties and Responsibilities: Supervise and direct daily laboratory functions Supervise laboratory staff, and make recommendations to staffing levels Ensure timeliness and accuracy of all lab work Evaluate, write, and maintain current lab procedures Perform all required analyses in accordance with established procedures Verify and validate questionable data by repeating the analyses if necessary Prepare juice/wine trials Maintains and ensures compliance with the lab safety program Communicates with winemakers and production on daily activities Monitor laboratory supply inventory and place orders as necessary Maintain instrumentation in good working condition Prepares reagents for use in lab analysis Performs lab support for the vineyard
Special
Requirements:
Experience: B.S. degree in chemistry, wine science, or related field 3-5 years of winery or similar lab experience with some supervisory experience preferred College coursework in chemistry and microbiology Qualifications: Highly organized Computer literate Strong math skills Analytical instrumentation skills preferred Ability to multitask and work in a fast paced environment Excellent communication skills Ability to work flexible and extended hours as the harvest season dictates Work Environment: May sit or stand for an extended period of time May lift up to 50 lbs. Work with chemicals that require protective equipment (goggles, etc.) Salary & Compensation: Salary Range, DOE, please submit salary requirements along with resume Benefits: medical, 401k, vacation
