Description: An established food processor based in the San Joaquin Valley is seeking a QA Manager. The QA Manager will provide for the Quality Assurance Department the managerial functions of setting objectives, planning, organizing, staffing, and integrating the work of the Q.A. department with other departments in each plant. Use measurements of results to improve current performance and future planning --- all in harmony with the furtherance of the company’s objectives and policies. Reports to the CEO or his designee.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, develop, communicate and schedule Q.A. staffing to maximize product quality, line efficiency and human safety while minimizing the cost. Evaluates existing, develops new, and implements necessary policies, specifications and procedures related to Quality.
  • Work with department managers to improve product quality and to effectively use the on-site staff.
  • Interview, train and evaluate, communicate, supervise and schedule the Q.A. staff. Communicate to Senior Management on Quality issues.
  • Conduct periodic meetings and audits with production, repack, sanitation, sales, engineering and other staff to ensure quality goals are met.
  • Has responsibility to work with the Production, Planning and Inventory Control Manager to develop and implement a program of product supplier quality audits and inspection for all major purchased commodities.
  • Communicate with, coordinate and be principal contact for outside quality assurance auditors.
  • Measure, monitor, inspect and otherwise evaluate the safe, efficient and sanitary performance of all processing lines and related equipment to determine what appropriate modifications, additions or deletions are necessary to achieve both short term and long term quality goals and make appropriate recommendations.
  • May communicate directly with employees regarding product quality, sanitary procedures, human safety, training and other topics as necessary.
  • Participate in developing, implementing and enforcing plant quality and general house and safety rules. May work with Human Resources in an effort to adjudicate employee grievances as required.
  • Responsible for development and implementation of consumer complaint measurement control procedures.
  • Works with insurance carrier, claimants and others in researching, responding to and settling consumer complaints.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of all HACCP, GMP and other quality related programs.
  • Work directly with Sales Department, buyers and agents of USDA, FDA, OSHA and other professionals within the scope of performance of the job duties.
  • Work with Sales Staff on new product development and sending samples of both new and existing products.
  • Act as coordinator for Product Recall team and initiate mock recalls as required to properly test Recall system.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory issues related to quality that may impact the company. Recommend new strategies to comply with new laws and regulations.
  • Perform all other tasks as may be requested.
