Candidate Requirements:

Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of fresh fruit or nut industry quality standards and harvest procedures.
  • Ability to speak Spanish a plus.

  • Directs departments engaged in maintenance and repair of farm machines and facilities such as farm tractors, tractor implements, harvest equipment, irrigation equipment, washing and sorting equipment and post harvest handling and cooling facilities and associated equipment.
  • Directs movement of equipment between locations to maximize efficiencies.
  • Selects all vendors: seed, transplants, fertilizer, farm supplies, and equipment, labor and service contractors.
  • Recommends most efficient use of contracted equipment services, creates recommendations for new equipment.
  • Compiles and submits reports on farm conditions such as machinery breakdowns, crop diseases, labor problems, and planting schedules.
  • Manages budget, participates in budget process.
